Metron's settings editor.

The settings editor allows you to change various preferences:

  • The sounds used for the various beat types during playback.
  • The color of the dots that reflect the pulses in the metronome's LCD screen.
  • Whether the metronome front uses single step tempo increments, or traditional tempo increments, which adjust the tempo by 2 to 8 bpm per step, just like a traditional mechanical metronome.
  • Whether the default sequence upon startup is the last sequence of the previous session, or the first sequence in the sequence list.
  • The note name style in the tuner: Default (CDEFGAB), German (CDEFGAH), Latin (Do, Re, Mi, etc.)
  • Whether background music can be played while Metron is active. This is useful if you want to, for example, play the metronome along with a song from your music library. When this setting is on, any music playing when you start Metron will continue to play once Metron has started, and will continue when you start playing a sequence. With this setting off, music playing when you start Metron will fade out. Note that you can always, even with this setting off, double click the home button, while in Metron, to start playback of the last active song from your library, and then, for example, tap along to the rhythm of the music to find out its tempo value. If you then start playback of a sequence, and this setting is off, the music will fade out before the sequence commences.
  • If you wish for the screen to be able to go to sleep during practice, turn off "Prevent screen lock".
  • Turn on "Background Playback" to allow Metron to continue playing after switching to another app or the springboard.
  • Turn on "Record Sessions" to have Metron record any playback session. The recorded sessions can be obtained and managed in iTunes in the Apps section under File Sharing. Select Metron in the list of Apps, then manage the list of documents. Recorded files are saved with the name of the sequence, appended by the date and start time of the playback session. The files are currently saved in .wav format.
  • You can reload the default factory provided sequences. Note that this will remove any changes and/or additions you made to the sequences.
  • You can reload the default factory provided rhythm pattern templates. Note that this will remove any changes and/or additions you made to the templates.
