I just noticed that the splitting of document pages dramatically increases the document size.

Just to give an example: a pdf document of 385 KB by simple page splitting turns into a document of 1,2 MB. In other words: the splitting trebles its size.

Why is this? And is there something that can be done about it?

I’d like to report unexpected behavior.

I want to create a document from six PDFs in Finder.

1. I create a new PDFClerk Pro document.
2. I find the files I want in Finder.
3. I highlight and drag the six files from Finder into PDFClerk Pro.

I expect to see PDFClerk Pro import the documents in the order in which Finder lists them. Instead, it consistently imports them in the reverse order. Each document’s pages falls in the right sequence, but the documents do not. If I use the File > Import menu item to import the documents, then PDFClerk Pro behaves the way I expect.

I would love to see this changed in a future release. Thanks.

Hi,
I have a problem I’m not smart enough to figure out [not the first!]

I have a 30-page booklet made in InDesign with A5 paper set for it.

I want to use PDFclerk Pro to print it out double-sided on A4 paper (i.e. two A5s per side of paper), but I want it to be laid out so I can just fold it and it’ll be a booklet (i.e. page numbering to be right as a printshop would do it).

I hope I made it clear what I’m trying to do.

I see that in “Impositions editor” you can select “Impose two pages per sheet side”, but I don’t know what else to do after that (i.e. what other settings to change). I put in width as 297 and height as 210 mm. Page distribution shows Front of 4 then 1, and Back of 2 then 3 (seems right to me). I didn’t change any other settings. When I click OK nothing happens.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi! This application is wonderful, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

I have noticed one minor inconvenience, and it probably is that I don’t have my preferences set right, but I don’t know how to do what I want to do.

When I go to Finder and right click a PDF and then select Open With PDFClerk Pro, it opens the file (of course!). But when I want to save or export the recently opened file, PDFClerk Pro always tries to save the file in the folder I last saved something to, not to the folder from which I opened the PDF. Is there some way to change this behavior? I noticed that Preview seems to handle this differently defaulting to the “source folder” of the PDF I want to save.

Thanks!

Hi, I’m evaluating PDFClerk for our company as a more cost effective PDF editor for staff to use when concatenating PDFs primarily. They often have to combine several PDFs, often with differing printing orientations. For instance, there might be a written report created in Word, followed by some statistical data from an Excel spreadsheet. The Word document will be in portrait mode, and the spreadsheet will be in landscape.

When viewing these documents in a PDF viewer, it is preferable to have them display in landscape mode. But when printing this results in the document being printed across the middle third of an A4 page at reduced size. So in order to print the document it needs to be re-exported with the landscape pages in true landscape mode.

I would like to be able to send out on document, that when viewed on a computer, or web page displays in a human friendly orientation, but alters the orientation when printed.

Why? Because some people prefer to print, and some are happy to read on screen. If I have to only send one version out though, it will have to be the print friendly version, and this kind of forces people to print the document, which is less green.

Can anyone suggest a way of achieving this?

Thanks

I thought others might need to know this (well, they probably already do!). Anyway, an e-mail exchange between António and me was thus:

Eric: I now understand that Cmd-Ctrl-T brings up a static text box, whereas by the drop down menu, I can add dynamic boxes. However, is there a shortcut for dynamic ones?

António: There is no built-in shortcut, but you can create custom shortcuts to any app’s menu items in the system preferences. (Keyboard->Keyboard Shortcuts)

My question: I’ve never done this for any app, but it looks nice. I was wishing PDFclerk Pro had more keyboard shortcuts, but now I can create my own. However, when I go to System Preferences>Keyboard->Keyboard Shortcuts>Application Shortcuts, I have entered in “PDFclerk Pro” as the app I’m doing this shortcut for, and I have put in “Add Circle (Dynamic)” in the menu title. But I think that’s not right. Should it be “Tools>Dynamic Annotations>Add Shape>Circle” or is that just a label? If just a label, how does the app know what to do when I press Ctrl-Cmd-C (my custom shortcut)?
