Why does PDFClerk reduce the file size of my documents? I am doing a very high-end print job and would like to preserve as much resolution as possible.

For example, the original PDF that I import is 754 MB. After imposition, when I export from PDFClerk to a PDF it is 381 MB.

I have set the following preferences:

Preferences/settings for all/graphics quality: best, image compression: none

Are there any other settings I can use to avoid a reduction in file size? Or, why is this happening?

Thanks!

I have a job that that has a bunch of sequentially numbered postcards (100x150mm). In a typical run there are around 2000 cards done. I set for a digital press that uses SRA3 size card (450x320) so would like to set them up to print 8 per sheet as 4 rows, 2 columns with the sheet in portrait orientation. Because they’re sequentially numbered on the front i’d like to set it up such that when the run is trimmed on the guillotine, all I need to do is stack each pile in order on top of one another to get the entire set in sequence.

So, for my example the (say) top left slot sheet 1 will have page 1, sheet 2 page 2, sheet 3, page 3 etc all the way down to sheet (2000 / 8 =) 250. In the next slot of sheet 1 (say, the top right ) the numbering then starts at 251 down through the sheets to 500, and so on through all the page slots to eventually accommodate all 2000 cards, 8 to view on 250 sheets. When they’re trimmed I only need to stack each trimmed stack on top of one another to keep them all in sequence.

Reading a few of the questions on this board makes me think it’s also the same problem as several users have described in printing perfect bound books with multiple pages per sheet.

I can’t see any obvious way of doing this. Can it be done?

In the Pages view, you can cut and paste a single page, or multiple pages to another area of the document. You can also do the same thing by way of dragging and dropping the page(s) to another area. In the Light Table view, you can drag and drop, but you can’t cut and paste. Is there a reason for this? Can we get that area to work like the Pages view? This doesn’t become important until you have an extremely long document (1000+ pages) and need to move things around. With the drag and drop mode you have do a lot of scrolling, which can in itself be problematic at times.

Thanks,

Hello Antonio,

After the start of my PDFClerk Pro - Version 3.12 - it appears that the programme is suddenly no longer registered and so I can only can use of the DEMO version.
Unfortunately, there is no possibility within the programme in order to introduce my registercode. How can I solve the problem?
P.S. Replace from more older ‘com.sintraworks.PDFClerkPro.plist’s does not help…

Thanks for your help,

Antonio,

I want to be able to paste a JPG of my signature into PDFClerk documents but the white/clear background of my signature covers up the surrounding text. I have eliminated the background of my signature in Photoshop (shows up as gray and white checkerboard) but when I paste it into a PDFClerk document, the white/clear background continues to block out the document I’m working on. Is there another way of inserting my signature and have it look like it’s been signed over the existing words in the document?

Thanks,

I’m a new PDFClerk user—downloaded and bought license yesterday—and have a problem—I’ve created a 48 page document by importing and combining existing PDF files into one larger file. I saved a test version PDF early on to see that everything worked as I wanted. It did.

I changed it substantially since that earlier save/export and now I cannot view the file contents. When I open the file created in the PDFClerk document format, I see the 48 pages down the side bar menu. But, I cannot see any of the pages. I’ve tried as many things as I can think of—switching views, the lightbox, selecting one page, etc. I’ve looked through the preference settings and the manuals and FAQ and can’t find any solutions.

I’ve also tried exporting this phantom file to PDF—when I do this, I get a blank PDF file. Nothing there.

But, when I look at the file information for the PDFClerk version, it shows a file of some size—larger than the version saved for the first test PDF.

Is the document there? How can I see it? Any advice would be appreciated.
