In generating outlines from a Table of Contents, the general format is the TOC entry + pdf page number.  I think it would generally be more useful to have the format be TOC entry+page label.  This would make it much easier to track between electronic and hard copies when the numbering might be of the form 1-1, 1-2, ....A-1, B-1, etc.

I do not follow. Can you be more specific? What do you mean by TOC entry + pdf page number/label? Are you referring to the TOC entries themselves, or to what PDFClerk does with them?

When PDFClerk generates a bookmark from a Table of Contents, the label or text of the bookmark is the TOC entry + the page number of the page in the pdf file to which the bookmark takes you.  What I am suggesting is that the label should be the text of the TOC entry + the page label of the page in the pdf file to which the bookmark takes you.

This makes it easier to compare the pdf file with a hard copy file when the hard copy is not numbered consecutively from page 1, for example when a section by section numbering scheme is used.  Thus if the entry xxx appears on page 25 of the pdf file and page 5-2 of the hard cop, the bookmark label generated by PDFClerk will read “xxx 25” while I would prefer it to read “xxx 5-2.”

Clearer?

Whoops. My mistake. I use Skim as my pdf reader and it displays the page number to the bookmark label.  In other pdf readers, the page numbers do not appear. There is no problem with PDFClerk—which is a wonderful program.

Ah, that explains it. I had not had time to investigate this yet, but I was puzzled. Puzzled no more.
